First Annual Forest Moon Art Festival - Summer 2011

As part of its mission to promote green living and sustainability education, the Culture Artist Organization is working towards establishing Forest Moon Ecovillage. Our first annual fundraiser will be the Forest moon Art Festival, in the Summer of 2011.

While we have not yet settled on a location for this festival, it will be somewhere between Greenville, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina. The Board is currently looking at several venues. If you live in this region, and have a suitable location, please contact us at: chuck@cultureartist.org.

We are also seeking artists and musicians for the festival. In keeping with the primary theme of sustainability and green living, we prefer artists who work with 'found objects,' i.e., recycled materials, or artists who work with natural materials. Artists who work within these media will have first priority on rental spaces.

We are also seeking musicians to perform during the festival. In keeping with the nature theme, we prefer musicians who play acoustic instruments. If you would like to be considered for the concert portion of the festival, please contact chuck@cultureartist.org for instructions on how to submit a demo tape, CD or mp3. Since this is a nonprofit event, we give first priority to bands and acts who are willing to perform for free. Such acts will be given the opportunity to sell and display promotional items at the festival. If you are a musician or performing artist willing to perform for free at the festival, you will be given a free vendor space.

In addition to artists and musicians, we will be looking for people who would be interested in facilitating various workshops on sustainability and holistic health. Spaces will be provided for such workshops, and facilitators will be allowed to offer promotional materials, goods and services in exchange for offering workshops to festival-goers. If you have written a book on sustainable living or holistic health, and would like to promote it by offering a book signing at the festival, we will have an area set up where you may offer your books for sale.

We are also seeking volunteers to work at the festival, which will happen in Summer of 2011. No experience required! All we ask of volunteers is a sincere interest and a commitment to work towards making the First Annual Forest Moon Festival a success. If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, please contact us at chuck@cultureartist.org or subscribe to the newsletter! Subscribing will put you on our mailing list to be notified when meetings are held and will give you updates on our progress and topics of discussion. And of course, your input and suggestions are always welcome!
