| Natural Building
Education |
In this series, we explore some of the
many natural building techniques, including:
adobe,
cob,
strawbale,
rammed earth,
earth bags,
earth ships, and
slipform stone building.
We also offer programs and workshops on each of the
building methods listed above.
On occasion we are also able to offer hands-on workshops
where participants will actually get a chance to gain
practical experience working with these materials. Check
the main page for schedules. When such workshops are
available, they'll be
listed
on the main page. |
| Overview of Sustainable
Living |
In this workshop we cover many of the
major areas of sustainable living, from natural
childbirth to green education, sustainable weddings,
ecological clothing and transportation choices, natural
building, sustainable gardening, and even green burial!
Based on Chuck Hall's book,
Green Circles: A
Sustainable Journey from the Cradle to the Grave,
this workshop gives a brief overview of what it means to
live a sustainable lifestyle. |
| Sustainable Gardening |
We are currently seeking instructors
for our Sustainable Gardening series. If you have
experience in this area and are interested in working
with us, please send an email to
chuck@cultureartist.org. |
| Green Transportation |
Our Green Transportation educational
program offers an overview of the state of sustainable
transportation. Topics covered include: Human-Powered
Vehicles, Solar-Powered Vehicles, Compressed Air
Vehicles, Flexible-Fuel Vehicles, Biodiesel, Hybrids,
Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Ethanol and other Biofuels, and
Public Transportation. This program looks at the pros
and the cons of each method, as well as the current
technology for each. |
| Living in Community |
How does the environment impact our
mental health? Are people who are regularly exposed to
nature better off than those who are stuck in an urban
environment 24/7? How can you use nature to improve your
quality of life and your mental health? In this
educational program, we examine how the environment we
live in influences our state of mind and sense of
wellbeing. |
| Deep Ecology |
The idea of 'negative impact' means
living a lifestyle that puts more resources back into
the environment than one takes out. Is it possible to
live a totally sustainable lifestyle? In the Deep
Ecology Program, we take an in-depth look at the idea of
being a 'Culture Artist.' How can humankind make the
transition from consumerism to living a sustainable
lifestyle? |
